The 3 Serena discussion questions that i chose to address, the similarities between Macbeth and Serena, Her philosophy of life and the symbolism of the eagle. Each question was very thought provoking and made me think about Serena and her character. My favorite question was the Eagle question. It was very fascinating to see how she had trained it and it seemed to do whatever she tells it.
All the questions were very good and i liked the fact that we got to type our opinions and responses and give our thoughts completely.

Serena Discussion Question #13

I am convinced that Macbeth and Serena are twins separated at birth. When I read Macbeth in when I was a junior in high school I thought that he was an absolutely maniac, along with his wife. But, when I read Serena I thought to myself that Macbeth has some competition coming his way.

When Harmon is first killed in the very beginning of the book you would think that the killing will stop there. Same as in Macbeth, when Macbeth first Banquo and his son Fleance in the beginning of the play you would think the same. In both Serena and Macbeth you their thirst for blood grow page by page.

Lady Macbeth have a lot similarities. Serena wants fame, money, and royalty and the same with Lady Macbeth. Lady Macbeth loves to give orders to her husband without thinking the consequences for him. Serena does the same when she tells Pemberton to kill Harmon because he has the potential to get in the way of her plans for becoming rich and royal.

Macbeth himself, Pemberton and Serena all have things in common. Macbeth can relate to Pemberton in the way that Pemberton and Macbeth both believe that they have to keep killing people to tie up loose ends in order to cover up the mass chaos that they have created. Serena and Macbeth are parallels, Serena wants to succeed and make a name for herself and Macbeth wants to be a great and mighty king and will do anything at any cost, even that means people’s lives. Macbeth and Serena share their thirst for blood and royalty which controls their lives and dictates each step that they take.
